The city that lost its memory.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Dundee forgot what it had been and had achieved; and settled down into being an industrial town focused upon jute; and then a post industrial one focused on very little. For 300 years, Dundee had been the second city of Scotland - and it reached that eminence by being the country's principal port, complete with Maritime Quarter. Luckily, before it all began to be demolished, the artist Charles Lawson sent round sketching its proud and ancient buildings.
This lecture will give Dundonians their memory back.
